BELMONT SHOOTING COMPLEXThe Belmont Shooting Complex was established in 1916, by the Australian Federal Government as a military rifle range site. Plans for a 50 target range were initially approved.Prior to World War 2 the range was used by the Australian Army for small arms training. It was not until the 1950's that civilian shooting activities began, conducted by individual clubs. In the early 1960's the construction of a full bore range commenced which was duly completed in 1964. It was at this time that the concept of a multi-disciplined shooting facility was floated. Construction and occupation of other ranges followed, including Clay Target, Pistol and Small Bore. The complex is managed by the Belmont Shooting Complex Site Users Association, which is comprised of the following organisations. |

| The complex encompasses a site of approximately 480 hectares (1200 acres) set in rugged bushland. The majority of ranges are located in the north western quarter with the remainder of land taken up by safety areas. The complex is only some 16 kilometres from the City of Brisbane and 25 kilometres from Brisbane International airport, making it extremely accessible to locals and visitors alike. | |||||||
